Meet the MWEYFRC Team
Emiley Martens
Centre Coordinator
Emiley’s love for working with children and families began when she volunteered at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation as well as when she spoke on the radio twice about her heart surgery.
After coming home from British Columbia where she studied Criminology, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and worked as a Substitute Educational Assistant through Saskatoon Public Schools where she acquired long-term positions at John Dolan and the Ready, Set, Go Preschool.
Her most recent position at the Saskatoon Region Early Childhood Intervention Program impacted her decision to return to school to acquire her Early Childhood Education Level 2.
Emiley has a passion for making an impact in children’s lives in the early stages of their development and is excited to be taking over a maternity leave as the Center Coordinator.

In her free time, she studies to understand children’s moral, social, psychological, or emotional hinderances to learning, as well as implements her findings on her three lovely kids (2 boys and a girl) to help them develop.

Abibat’s philosophy of education is centered around the fact that educators must acquire the trust and respect of every child to effectively teach them. Her strategy is to establish a nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel safe, loved, and heard. Furthermore, Abibat enjoys creating an engaging learning environment and allowing children to learn at their own pace by developing strategies using various learning programs.
Abibat enjoys cooking, reading, and exploring new places.
Alexis Peters
Program Facilitator
Alexis’s passion for childcare began at an early age as she loved helping her mom in her day home and helping her care for the babies was her favourite. When she got older, she loved organizing activities for the children in her care, planning parties, theme days, and games.
Alexis began her childcare career as a private nanny for a wonderful family until the children grew up and the family no longer required childcare.
From there she worked at the day home for two years before getting into Early Learning Centers. Alexis then went to school to get her Early Childhood Education level 1 while working at Building Brains Early Learning Center.
She began her employment as a Campus Float staff and within a year she was promoted to being a Lead Teacher in the Right Brain classroom in the Junior Campus. This is where she has the most enjoyment, making children’s visions come to life while they learn though play.
Alexis has had many successes in the classroom, as some of her favourites are; turning the classroom into a hair salon, a winter wonderland and a Mexico vacation destination.
Alexis currently resides in Warman where she has lived for 10 years, with her spouse of 13 years, David. They have two cats and one Great Dane. She began with the MWEYFRC in September 2024. Alexis is very thrilled to be joining the team and be apart of this amazing resource for families!
